On 7th November 2019 our farm flooded completely, with the entire 5.5 acres and house swamped in contaminated water, which at some places was 3 feet deep and at it’s lowest was 1 foot deep.
We would like to thank everybody who helped us during our flooding crisis. We received so much help including food, pet supplies, bedding, a petrol generator, thermos flasks, hot water and donations of money. It all helped us so much and helped keep the farm and our animals going.
As of today we have 122 animals here, and apart from a couple of dogs and cats, all of them are rescued. We look after them forever, we don’t rehome them and we try to give them the best life as possible.
I’ve written a book detailing everything we went through focusing on the efforts and challenges we had to overcome with all of the animals. If you’re interested, you can purchase it here.

I make only a very small amount of money per book and this will all go towards funding things for the animals.
Since we flooded we have worked hard to restore life to normality for all of the animals. Our land is now dry, though only just, and all animals are happy. Over the past few months we have built a new pig enclosure, purchased a new horse shelter, put up countless new fences and completely reconfigured the field where the chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys live. The dogs can finally be walked in their field every day and enjoy multiple walks per day once again.
The house is still a mess. Our insurance teams have been really helpful but as with everything covid-19 has caused delays to our re-building works, which were due to start at the beginning of April. We’ve tried to make things as comfortable as possible but the whole of downstairs consists of concrete floors and concrete walls. Upstairs is still really messy too with most of the carpet taken up and stuff cluttered as neatly as we can. We’re still cooking in the caravan on the driveway every day. We purchased a new washing machine and fridge freezer which we have stored temporarily in the garage until our kitchen is back.
We’re carrying on, we’re making progress each day and one day we will have our house back.
Thank you so much for your support, we were so helpless with the flooding and your help enabled us to survive, provide comfort for the animals and get things up and running much more quickly.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Mike and Carly
